Abstract
Renal artery aneurysm (RAA) is a rare disease that has an unclear etiology. RAA is related to hypertension in almost 73% of the cases. A 66-year-old woman presented with syncope. Her past history was significant for resistant hypertension. Her systolic blood pressure had remained above 160 mmHg in spite of treatment with three oral antihypertensive agents. The syncope was vasovagal syncope. A curvilinear calcification was seen at the left upper quadrant of the abdomen on the X-ray and the CT scan of the abdomen revealed a left saccular RAA of about 4 cm in diameter. This aneurysm was excluded by a covered stent-graft and two proximal side branches were shut down by coil embolization for the prevention of endoleak. Her hypertension was then well controlled with the same medications. At the 3-month CT examination, no contrast was seen in the aneurysm sac. The left kidney perfusion and renal function were normal.
